Bodies Exhibit
Bodies The Exhibition is an up-close and interactive exhibit that can be seen at the Luxor Hotel that provides a fascinating look into the human anatomy, complete with an explanation of everything being viewed. It features 13 preserved human bodies from people who donated their bodies to science, plus 260 organs and partial body specimens. The body specimens are placed in various poses and have been preserved through "plastination," – defined as "a technique or process used in anatomy to preserve bodies or body parts. The water and fat are replaced by certain plastics, yielding specimens that can be touched, do not smell or decay, and retain most properties of the original sample."
Visitors will see a three-dimensional vision of the human form from the brain, bones, and muscles to the skeletal system, nervous system, digestive, respiratory (with a smoker's lung), circulatory (with a colorful preservation of blood vessels), urinary, and reproductive systems. An in-depth audio guide is also available, which adds to the experience.
Bodies the Exhibition takes between 45 and 60 minutes to explore; however, there are no time restrictions, so you can stay as long as you like. It is worth the price of admission, and while it is thoughtfully and respectfully presented, it is not for people who are sensitive or impressionable children.
