Vegas Indoor Sky Diving
Those who have been putting off their first skydiving experience for when they have more time or money can have few excuses to procrastinate any more. There is no better time than now, when skydiving in Las Vegas is so accessible, not particularly expensive, and just half an hour from Sin City.
The Vegas Skydiving Experience
Going skydiving in Vegas means leaping off an airplane from a height of three miles (or fifteen thousand feet) and letting the wind carry you over magnificent views of the Las Vegas Strip, Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. Unless you’re experienced in the sport, you can dive tandem, harnessed to an experienced skydiver who will take charge of the parachute so that you can simply enjoy the experience unadulterated by stress.
Las Vegas skydiving companies offer training, both on the ground and during the jump itself through their USPA (United States Parachute Association) licensed tandem instructors. These instructors typically have jumped hundreds and thousands of times. A typical Vegas skydiving experience involves taking a (usually free) shuttle from certain locations on the Vegas Strip to the skydiving hangar. There you will be trained on the ground and given the equipment and gear that you need, such as parachute, goggles, helmet, altimeter, skydiving suit etc.
Next, you’ll take an airplane ride with views over sites like Hoover Dam, Colorado River, Red Rock Canyon, the Vegas Strip etc. Finally, you’ll jump free-falling (with your instructor) from the airplane at speeds as high as 190 kilometers per hour for about a minute. When the parachute deploys, your instructor will show you how to steer it to the ground for a smooth landing. This stage takes about five to seven minutes.
Tandem diving is a safe and thrilling way to enjoy your first skydive. If you’re serious about skydiving solo, you can make multiple jumps until you’re confident of being able to do it on your own. Those who already have adequate experience under their belt can rent equipment from several Vegas skydiving companies to make their own dives.

Skydive Las Vegas Prices
In general, you can enjoy a skydiving experience inclusive of shuttle, instructor fees, equipment rental, airport fees, taxes etc. for as little as $200. Of course, you may also want a gift certificate to take away as proof of your experience, and that’s available too. Many schools offer a DVD and/or photos of your jump for extra. Overall, you’ll find the experience totally worth it at the price of the Pebble Watch.
The Indoor Skydiving Alternative
If you’re all set on skydiving in Vegas but can’t take the plunge just yet, why not test the air with some indoor skydiving and see how it suits you? While you won’t find the views that makes skydiving so special, the simulated free fall of indoor skydiving will show you what it’s like to float, free fall and fly through the air. Indoor skydiving is usually made possible by powerful motors that whip up winds of around 120 mph. The best part is that kids can enjoy this safely too.
If you’re ready to go on your first dive, we can help you book the freefall of your life. Remember, the jump itself is not as fearsome as it’s often made out to be. Conquer your fears, relax and take the plunge, and you may find that you’re hooked.
